come, spring!

print top - Wet Seal
skirt - Weathervane

She's pulling out the cutesy patterned shirts again—can it be spring?  Oh, can it be??  (although the colours definitely put me in the mindset of fall...)

I recall this was a day I was able to walk to some friends' house without the aid of a coat or jacket or scarf.  It felt glorious to be able to do that again.  We're making progress, Spring!!

for st patrick!

Okay, I really was disappointed no one else saw this outfit.  I had to eat my St Patrick's Day garlicky-yummy mashed potatoes all alone :(  (they were delicious. and I had leftovers that were delicious for days to come!)  St Patrick's Day is another one of those holidays that I have always always loved because I get to dress up for it.  And green is such a lovely colour, in all its tints and shades!  I snuck in a bit of orange with the layered tights... that won't get me beat up, will it?

still cold

green sweater - Energie
pink sweater - Aeropostale
skirt - Weathervane

It's March!  Happy March!  March means it might could maybe possibly be spring soon!  But as you see, I'm still wearing double layers of sweaters...  Soon!  Soon we will have sunny skies and flowers once more!!

Also, I lied, my hair will still be partially in braids for a few more days.

sorta split complements

cami - American Eagle
tshirt - Mossimo (Target)
scarf - self-knit
skirt - Weathervane
tights - JC Penny
shoes - Apple Bottom
earrings - Forever21

Colour-theory outfit day!  This is split complementary (which is when you take two complements, say red and green, and then choose the colours directly adjacent on the colour wheel to one of them—so  redviolet, redorange, and green), mostly, although the cami might go a little too far into purple.  But theory is just theory; what matters is that it looks good, right?

So that's today's art/colour lesson.  As someone who could spend hours organizing giant Crayola boxes of crayons into perfect rainbow order and still has memories of the day she learned the colour wheel in an elementary school art class, I love this topic and its practical application (or was that already obvious?).  I hope you enjoyed it too!!

booksale bliss

This is our Lys after a used book sale at the library.  Only, she actually couldn't have held all her new books in her arms like this—reality was a huge, heeeaaavy paper bag with tons of great stuff inside!  One of my favourites was an edition of Beauty and the Beast with an unassuming cover of green-leafy design (it had lost its slipcover).  The illustrations inside (by Hilary Knight) are just lovely!!  I also got a Cinderella book by the same illustrator, but I didn't realize it until I got home.  Here's a link to the Beauty and the Beast book—you can zoom in on the cover and get an idea of its prettiness.

In other news, I love children's books.  And I need a new bookshelf for them.

merry Christmas day!

Christmas Eve is for wearing festive colours; Christmas Day is for wearing new things I got last night.  This sweater is gorgeous!!  I should've drawn a pose that showed the socks better, because they're great too, but I'm sure you'll see them again here :D

Also, just  for fun, a photo of the ensemble I wore outside to feed the birds at my parents' place, featuring my brother's much-too-big shoes that I pulled on.  Tee hee.

Hope you all had a great Christmas!!  It's New Year's Eve Day as I write this, so Happy New Year to you too!

merry Christmas eve!

Christmas Eve at last!  Reli-li-lief!!  I considered wearing this fitted turtleneck sweater under my green vneck but decided against it. This was a good thing, because I later realized I already did that combo last Christmas eve!

Even though we were sitting around most of the time at my aunt's, my feet were still sore after spending the night in heels. It's astonishing what one will do for cute looks. (but the shoes are so very very cute!)

stepping on roses

I went and coloured this one after all (really quickly, like in 10 minutes), because I liiiiike it.  I went back to helping out as a designer, and they put me to work cleaning the lower leaves and outer petals from the roses.  By the time I finished the job, I found myself standing in a crimson and green sea of rose petals and leaves.  So dramatic!

Also, one thing I appreciate about glasses is being able to tuck a flower between the frame and my head, just above my ear.  Flowers are nice accessories.

cuddly cat

This is our Finny cat.  He had fleas, but we're getting rid of them.  That means we can let him inside now and then!!  And he can be all adorable and cuddly and floppy!  Hooray for cats :D

I think I need to buy some new skirts.  I haven't bought a new skirt since sometime this spring!! And I don't have quite enough wintery ones.  Plaid skirts are great in winter.

friend fashion!

This time you get two outfits!!  My friend told me I'd inspired her to wear more bright colours.  That made me super happy :D  The world can always use more colour!!  Hopefully I got the details mostly right—I took a couple notes on her outfit and otherwise just stored the colours in my brain.  She made the skirt and the armwarmers herself!!
