giddy blues

I am a nerd and a big fan of manga (Japanese comics).  I'd made an order at my bookstore-within-walking-distance (!!!!) and it took a few weeks, but fiiiinally came in, and I was so thrilled I dashed right out the door.  And then I realized I was wearing this long, narrow skirt, and it was really hard to take my usual long strides while walking (even though I'm short, I walk pretty fast normally!  especially when I'm going somewhere I want to be quickly.  Like high school or the bus stop, or a bookstore with desirable books, or a warm building when it's cold outside...).  I had to take many tiny-short steps.  Such a bother!  So I got impatient and rolled up the waistband to shorten it a few inches, and then continued on my way.  It was sooo much easier!

And then I got my beloved books.  And I read them.  And one of them (pictured, barely) had a cameo by a certain favourite-character from another series (that I haven't actually read much of, only seen pictures from) so I was thrilled to pieces.  Glee!

options

shirt - Arizona (JCPenny)
green skirt - A. Byer
pink skirt - Wet Seal
socks - Sockdreams
barrette - dollar store

This is my dilemma.  I got lazy for a few days and didn't write down what I wore alongside the drawing, and then when I went back I had to figure it out based on the drawing and my memory.  It's usually not a problem because I've trained my brain to remember frivolous details like that, but when I got to this drawing I could not for the life of me remember what pair of tights I'd worn.  So I made three different versions—the yellow tights as you see here, the same outfit with pink tights, and with blue tights.  Now for your assignment: please write a five-paragraph essay and explain which you like best, OR which you think Lys was most likely to have actually worn, and why.

happy december!

I had a long day, full of playing with small children. Generally this is alllllll good with me, but our church's congregational meeting went longer than the usual Wednesday-night activities, so by the end of the night I think all the kids in the nursery were getting impatient and stir-crazy. Also, one of them was getting kinda bossy with me. I don't take well to bossing, I think, because I was and will forever be the big sister of my family, which means I am the one who bosses everyone else. It can be no other way!

Hey look, you get a bonus mini-drawing of my outerwear! December greeted us with a picture-perfect snowfall, our first of the season. Of course it was a day on which I had plans to walk to a friend's! While I was out walking about town, I happened to pass some guys from the local news who seemed to be videotaping or photographing me as I walked by. Whether this made it into the evening news as part of a story about how It Snowed In Our City Today or not, I don't know because I don't have a tv. But if it did, I'm glad I was wearing a full array of colours!

reach for your dreams

I started this with the thought, "I want to do a drawing from behind..." It's really fun to draw feet from the back—that's the entire reason I like drawing people facing away.  But I didn't have anything specific in mind beyond the feet, so the rest was just whatever happened to happen on the paper.  And that was this.

I cheated on the light pink shirt and used Photoshop's butterfly brush to do the pattern.  But you can hardly see it anyway, under all that lace!
