fruit shower

print top - Pockie K
capris - So

It's April!  Happy Apriiiiil!!!!  Woooo!!  And it's also a Friday, which ends up being the day we often go grocery shopping.  I came home with a pile of fruit!  You can see some of my fruits to the side, but I got some kiwi, bananas (which I waited 3 or 4 days to start eating, because I won't touch a banana until it has spots), kumquats, cheap (and not all that great, sadly) nectarines, and dried figs.  I got raisins too, but they're so tiny I didn't bother to draw them...  and oh, what's that thing down below that kiwi?  Why!!  It's a gluten-free oreo-style cookie!  I suppose this is why people say not to grocery shop hungry.  But once in a while it's happy-making to have little treats like that.  I'm not letting myself eat more than two cookies per day, so I can draw out my enjoyment of them!!

I didn't do any April Fooling this year.  I don't think I have in the past, either, although I remember a friend one year calling to tell me her family was moving away as an April Fool (did I catch on?  I think I did, though maybe not immediately).  Oh, when I took French classes and learned they celebrate it by sticking drawings of fish on people's back ("poisson d'avril") I might have participated in that.

mondayblah

skirt - Jouraine (YesStyle)

My Mondays have been kinda... blah, outfitwise, lately.  Is that just how Mondays are in the world?  Every so often I wear just one layer of shirt and think to myself, "Hey, that doesn't look too bad!"  But later in the day I realize how cold I am and remember the main reason I'm always wearing layers.

Randomly, I was looking at the tag for this skirt (which is slightly unusual—I ordered it online from YesStyle, and they carry a bunch of different brands, but a number of those brands don't actually tag their items)—anyway, I was looking at the tag, and it looked a lot like the old tag for Forever 21 clothes, with the scripty font and the roses on each side (like this).  But the tag itself read "Jouraine"... and I can't find anything online about such a brand.  It's weeeeird.  Is that some secret offshoot of Forever 21?

springy?

lacy shirt - IZ

I don't know what this pose is.  I think someone told me this outfit looked springy... all the blues and greens?  The light, lacy shirt maybe?  Hmmm...

Argyle socks make any day more fun!

my stripes!

Everything's striped!  The blue shirt has a ribbed texture.  Somehow stripes feel like they're extra warm... maybe it's just all the layering.

Those armwarmers were originally knit for my brother, but he rarely wears them, so I took 'em back (temporarily).  They're ribbed, so nice and stretchy, and extra long.  Cozy~

snowpocalypse day

skirt - Wet Seal
jeans - American Eagle
socks - Sockdreams
scarf and armwarmers - knit 'em myself!
earrings - Icing (I think)

It's been a while, since I got so behind in posting, but do you remember the Snowpocalypse of a few weeks ago?  Yeah, I'm trying to shut it out of my memory too (especially because we've had beautiful SUN the past couple days). This drawing was from the day all the snow hit our fair state—at least 13 inches, I recall hearing.  I stayed holed up inside and only looked out the window with contempt.  This is another good-and-bad thing about freelancing.  I never have to go out in the gross weather to get to work... but I don't get snowdays either.  But I'm not complaining.

double knit

dark purple sweater - American Eagle
light purple sweater - So...
skirt - Old Navy

Now we reach my "Take that, winter!" phase in which I wear as many layers as I can pile on.  This is not the last time you'll see me wearing two sweaters (plus other assorted shirts).  Mmm, warmth...

Stupid ol' winter.

sailor scavenger

dress - Bodyline
tights - f21
shoes - American Eagle (Payless)

Noooooo I forgot to colour the tail of the bow in the back of the dress!  Oh well, moving on.

This day I spent mostly in pajamas, working on work.  Then around, I dunno, 4 or 5pm I decided I should get dressed because we were going to my parents' for dinner.  And after spending all day feeling like a bum in pjs, I needed a drastic change!  So I dressed up in frills.  Man, tons of frills, as I realized while drawing the outfit later.  I still had time to get work done, so I loaded up the convenient heart-pockets on the dress with dried pineapple and pecans and set back to work.  (yes, my eating habits tend toward scavenging most days.)

I've had a slightly odd fascination with sailor outfits for a while now.  My cousin and I have an ongoing joke about dressing our future-someday children in snappy little Victorianesque sailor suits.  Ooh, the precious-ness!  Until such time as I have a child to dress up, I guess I have to make do with dressing up myself.  Therefore, this dress is awesome :D

casual kitty

Casual day! Which apparently means Hello Kitty and plaid-skirt-with-hot-pink-nailpolish-spill. I have a new item of black clothing (joining two or three others), thanks to my lovely cousin!! It's gathered at the bottom, which I find incredibly cute.

I promise I won't wear the leggings out in public without a skirt or something layered over them, though. I only did that sort of thing when I was in third grade and stretchy stirrup pants with loud floral patterns were my favourite Saturday pants (my mum wouldn't let me wear them to school with my hot-pink scribble-design shirt and four different coloured socks).

slapjack happy

It's the night of the (annual?) Escanaba in da Moonlight-watching party at my friends' place!  I attempted to dress up like a Yooper, but I'm not sure anyone caught on without me pointing it out.  Oh well, it amused me anyway.

The plaid shirt and boots both came from my brother.  I felt like some kind of bizarre godzilla clomping around in the boots :D  But they stayed on as long as I kept the shoelaces tied tight!  And I discovered that flannel shirts are soooooooooo waaaaaaaaarm.  I think I want a couple (in my size, though).
