run away!
Another Wednesday night at church—this time I spent it outside playing with the older (~elementary) kids rather than in the nursery with the toddlers. We played various forms of tag (thus the running pose) and then there was a soccer game, but I sat that out with another helper and a few girls. Talking and giggling together was more fun than standing around watching all the faster kids swarm around a soccer ball...

jellyfish fluttering
I felt like a jellyfish in this. A cute, pink, ruffly jellyfish. Every time I went down the stairs the edges of the skirt kinda fluttered and poofed. It was fun :D

silly boy

When thinking of a pose to draw, I remembered laughing really hard earlier in the day. Then I had to think a bit harder to remember why I'd laughed. It was because a certain hilarious four-year-old was telling me about when his older brother had put a box of styrofoam packing peanuts above a door that his sister or mom later walked through. And how this brother had also once put a cup of water above a door his sister later walked through (apparently it missed her, but got water everywhere else). And then the kid had the great idea that he would put the box of packing peanuts he was currently playing with... behind a door. Because he couldn't put it on top of the door, of course, it's up so high! He dashed off and I started cracking up because it was so absurd; a couple minutes later he was back and trying to persuade me that I should go through that door. Kids are so weird. (the rest of the story goes: I opened the door. I saw that there was a box of packing peanuts behind it. The end.)

the end!! (of a sketchbook)
![]() |
| lace shirt - Wet Seal/Blue Asphalt corduroys - UnionBay |
I drew this on the back of the last half-page in my sketchbook (it was a half-page because I tore out half of it on another occasion). Facing the back cover of my sketchbook, covered in fruit and vegetable stickers and a weird drawing of a platypus, what was I to do if I couldn't acquire a new sketchbook soon?! Oh, the horror! (spellcheck, don't you tell me I spelled "couldn't" wrong.)
Well... you'll have to wait till tomorrow to find out what happened next.

It's been a while, but here's another friend-fashion post!
Kids are awesome, aren't they? I was over at this boy's house when he decided to dress up and started roaring through the house. He's so funny.
The duck mask fits him better than it fits me... (she says, from experience.)

more snow

And theeeen all my spring-ful hopes and dreams were dashed by another snowfall! What a shock. By the way, sundresses are totally okay to wear in winter. With winter boots. Yes.

beginner's luck

| sweater - American Eagle top - L8ter (Younkers) pants - YesStyle socks - Sockdreams |
I have fantastic beginner's luck. Have I mentioned this before? Especially with board games, it seems. Maybe I'm just so quiet and unassuming that no one notices me until it's too late and I've taken over the world. So this is my "Never you mind about little ol' me while I build a ridiculous train empire, and spell words like quinoa and tunicate (+50pts) in your Scrabble game" face. (okay, so it wasn't my first time playing Scrabble, but it'd been a while, and most of my memories of the game are of putting down words like "did" and "far" and adding an "s.")

| dress - Bodyline tights - Forever21 shoes - Rocket Dog (Younkers) |
Fluffy dress fluffy dress!! This was another recent purchase (along with the blue print dress a few days back). It is my favourite ever—it's got such a nice full skirt and a cute rose print! I think if I did this colour combo again I'd switch it around, with dark tights and a brighter top.

grumpy chocolate day
![]() |
| blue shirt - ? (Younkers) cami - Express brown shirt - Wet Seal capris - UnionBay (Kohl's) tights - Forever21 legwarmers - Target? |
So I was a little grumpy this day. I addressed this problem by eating some chocolate (but I promise I only broke off one square... or maybe two) and reading manga that made me cry and knitting. I am making these and right now they look like this! Awesome, huh? Hopefully they'll be awesome. I need to get around to finishing them though. Go lys go!!

winter knits
Thanks, all you who keep checking in here! I promise I won't give up, even if I fall behind! And it's the holidays, after all—I'm allowed to be lazy and spend time with my dear family rather than my dear computer, right? :D
Until I get the rest of the way caught up, have a sweater-dress!! It's new, but I waited till the last Sunday of Advent to wear it (to match the last purple candle being lit). It sheds purple fuzzies EVERYWHERE. Good thing I got a sweater-de-fuzzifier for Christmas!

no cookies
Oh look, it's another grey dress!
This was a day of much running around... and then sitting at home wishing I were better at planning ahead. I got it into my head at 11pm that I should make eggnog cookies to bring to the family gathering on Sunday, but found I needed at least one more egg than I had, and couldn't reach my brother to have him pick some up for me (he was later dropped off at our house by a police officer! at 4am! because he had locked himself out of his car. scared me out of my wits, seriously). But the frantic weekend is over now, and as of today (Tuesday) I have acquired eggs and made cookies. Hooray!

christmas decoratin'
Saturday evening was spent with the family (minus one, plus two), decorating the Christmas tree! Yay!! It was nice to go back home and be a part of that. My own tree is very small and still rather sparse in the ornament (and light) department. But our family's Christmas tree is packed with lights and ornaments and happiness!!
This year it was my turn to hang the Dancing Cow ornament, the treasure of our collection. It's a wooden cow with a pull-string that makes his arms and legs move, and was one of the first ornaments my parents got for their tree. There was also a hunt to find the paper fan angel with a photo of my brother's 8(?)-year-old face, another (slightly) more recent treasure.

elegance
I had to start a new layer in Photoshop for nearly every item of clothing in this outfit, what with all the sheer layered items. Gotta keep it exciting!

un poco rococo
There! See, I have not abandoned you! An update... an outfit over a week old, but it's colourful and lacy and pretty, so you'll forgive me? :D
I have many more drawings of outfits to post, I just have to scan them and make them nice and colourful. But I will do that in the coming days! Maybe not tomorrow, as tomorrow is Thanksgiving (despite the date on this post—it's backdated to correspond to the day the outfit was worn, not the day I post) and I'll be spending it with my family. But look for more soon!
In any case, I like wearing (and making) knit scarves, but dressy-type scarves can be nice too (in other words, I'm thinking I need to acquire a couple more for this winter). They keep my neck warm, which is good because most of my shirts have wider or more open necklines. And they can be worn so many different ways! When I wore this outfit, I seriously considered wrapping the scarf around my head in a piratesque-fashion... but I decided my neck needed the warmth more, and my hair was too cute to cover up. Next time, though...

nice guy pose!
For this and the next day's drawing, I let a bit of my geekiness out. Heh heh...
Here I drew myself sort-of like a certain character from a certain manga (Japanese comic) series, simply because I happened to be looking at a picture of him when I opened my sketchbook to start drawing. Sometimes I just need to draw in a different style than the usual. If you don't know who the character is, don't worry about it :D If you do... hurrah!

layering colours
This is an updated version of a colour-combination I like—here is the original (from January 2009). It works better with a non-button-up shirt for the bottom layer.
