dusting day!

jeans - Old Navy

I owed my grandma a favour, so we arranged that I'd come over and do some dusting and cleaning for her that involved high-up tucked-away spaces she couldn't get to anymore. Ladders and stepladders were involved, along with some inching along kitchen counter tops.  There was some dust and a lot of grime (especially in the kitchen, what with all the cooking—when I was at my parents' later that day, I noticed that their cupboards extend all the way to the ceiling and I was glad of it.  my own cupboards, like my grandma's, end about a foot or so before the ceiling and now I am slightly worried about what might be up there if I were to look...) and a number of cobwebs.  And then there were rags and towels and Magic Erasers (♥), and various soapy substances and eventually, no more dusty cobwebs and not quite as much grime.  It was an accomplishment.

And now you get to see my Other Blue Jeans. (that's right, I've only got two pairs!)  They seemed well enough suited for a work-day.

snowpocalypse day

skirt - Wet Seal
jeans - American Eagle
socks - Sockdreams
scarf and armwarmers - knit 'em myself!
earrings - Icing (I think)

It's been a while, since I got so behind in posting, but do you remember the Snowpocalypse of a few weeks ago?  Yeah, I'm trying to shut it out of my memory too (especially because we've had beautiful SUN the past couple days). This drawing was from the day all the snow hit our fair state—at least 13 inches, I recall hearing.  I stayed holed up inside and only looked out the window with contempt.  This is another good-and-bad thing about freelancing.  I never have to go out in the gross weather to get to work... but I don't get snowdays either.  But I'm not complaining.

the cat came back

shirt - Arizona (JC Penny)
skirt - YesStyle
tights - Gap

And the very next day... I got back to work with a new lettering project!  A Korean comic about a traveling cat!  I got really excited working on it because it's visually gorgeous—whimsical watercolour-ish illustrations with an amazing range of colours.  There was a night-sky scene that was so beautiful, I couldn't help wanting to replicate it a little with this outfit.

chase the cat!!!!!!

green shirt - Old Navy
skirt - American Eagle (secondhand)
socks - Sockdreams
tights - JCPenny

My cat and I have this game we play in the evenings, anytime from around 6pm to midnight.  It's called "Chase the cat out of my room and halfway down the stairs, then go sit down and wait for him to come tearing into my room and crashing into the mirror or plant stand, then chase him again."  He seems to enjoy it, so I try to be accommodating, but sometimes he wants to play this game when I'm in work mode and it's very distracting.  The best part for me is the way his eyes get huge and black and ferocious-looking.  Such a cat!

the cleverness of me!

As I was working on a project on this Tuesday morning, still in my pjs, a particularly useful idea suddenly came to me (looking back, it wasn't really that big of a deal) and suddenly I heard a little voice say, "Oh the cleverness of me!"  I replied, Oh, Peter you silly boy.  I took that as my cue and decided to dress up Pan-inspired.  Hooray!  All ready to fight pirates!

christmas elfin

I was called in to work in my mum's department at work, helping them design floral arrangements while one of the regular designers was out with a broken arm (of course it would happen at the busiest time of year for them). Mum had talked to me the previous week about possibly helping out, but it wasn't until 10pm Thursday night that she actually called me and asked if I'd be willing to come in on Friday. Of course, I agreed :D

Afterwards, I went to see Scott Pilgrim (for the third time) with friends!

I realized while colouring this drawing that I'd forgotten to write in what all I was wearing, so I had to search my memory for the colour of the shirt and the rose earrings (I have two pairs of rose earrings, in pink and in red). That's the danger of getting behind on these. But I recalled the purple shirt that almost-matched the bandana, and I figured I would have worn red roses since I was dressing in Christmas colours (for which purple totally counts—it's an advent colour!)

puff puff

It is cold in our house.  This is because I am cheap and don't want to pay for heat.  But it's also because our house is abnormally cold—the last few days have been quite pleasant outdoors (with a couple layers on), but inside I have to huddle under blankets and wear a scarf to stay warm.  I'm giving serious consideration to a space heater.
