not the end

shirt, skirt, earrings - Forever21
sweater - AƩropostale
socks - SockDreams

So!  You're all in suspense over whether I decided to continue drawing once I reached the end of my sketchbook, right?!  Well... probably not now, since you see the drawing to the left of this text.  I remembered that there were a couple pages I'd accidentally skipped earlier on (I draw on the front and back of every page), so I made them useful!  Crisis averted! (for now...)

paisley headache

dress - Derek Heart | tshirt - Mossimo | socks - SouSou | earrings - Forever21

Look!  I'm doing soooo good at updating regularly, huh?  Huh?  Praise me!  Well, but I'm still two and a half weeks behind.  Anyway!  This update has more updates attached!  I scanned the dress pattern and finished off some other drawings with it.  It's a brown-paisley-dress-extravaganza!

I had a headache when I drew this.  I think it was from drinking soda.  My body isn't used to all those chemicals and high fructose corn syrup!  Danger, danger!!

sorta split complements

cami - American Eagle
tshirt - Mossimo (Target)
scarf - self-knit
skirt - Weathervane
tights - JC Penny
shoes - Apple Bottom
earrings - Forever21

Colour-theory outfit day!  This is split complementary (which is when you take two complements, say red and green, and then choose the colours directly adjacent on the colour wheel to one of them—so  redviolet, redorange, and green), mostly, although the cami might go a little too far into purple.  But theory is just theory; what matters is that it looks good, right?

So that's today's art/colour lesson.  As someone who could spend hours organizing giant Crayola boxes of crayons into perfect rainbow order and still has memories of the day she learned the colour wheel in an elementary school art class, I love this topic and its practical application (or was that already obvious?).  I hope you enjoyed it too!!

self conscious sweaterdress

blouse, tights- H&M
sweaterdress - WetSeal
earrings - Forever21
sweater - TakeOut (Kohl's)
shoes - Vigoss (JCPenny)

So I was like, totally happy with this outfit when I put it together.  But then my mum saw me at church wearing it and was like, "Are you sure about that?" and I spent the rest of the day all self-conscious and distressed.  Sweater dresses are a little tricky to pull off, I guess.  But I liiiike them!

But I still like the colour and texture combinations.  I had like four shades of off-white going on there.

princess of legend

I leave you with one more for now! We had a lovely night out with a few of the high school girls from church, decorating Christmas ornaments and snacking and chatting.  My friend had made the pink rhinestone-dotted ornament as a sample, and sent it home with me at the end of the night with instructions that I must feature it in the day's post. But of course!  Such a lovely bubblegum-pink, bejeweled spectacle must be shared with the world!!  It now has a place on my cute tree (as seen here if you can spot it). Next year I'll give it a more central spot of honour.

I decorated my hair before the event with some curly silver ribbon I had salvaged from a pile of torn giftwrap last Christmas. It was the perfect use!

Oh, one more story behind the mismatched socks. I usually match mine, but earlier in the evening I'd stepped on our stairs funny and got the back of my heel scraped up a bit by a nail.  It hurt, but I didn't notice anything more till later, when I looked at the heel and noticed the dark red stripe was just a little bit darker in an area—blooood!! (yet it hadn't spread to any other stripes, just that dark one.) I had to wash out the knit tights and leave the house with a wet, alternate-socked foot.

diamonds and dots

My head is swimming with colours right now, as I just did some more catching up and coloured a few older drawings, which you can see h-e-r-e-! (or just check out late June and early July dates).

Now I kind of want to take a nap like in this drawing!

piratical

This is exciting, right!?  Look how awesome I am!!

In high school, or rather right after graduating high school, I went through a pirate phase (try and guess what year that was and what movie hit theaters that summer and it'll all make entirely too much sense).  But I suspect even before that I had a soft spot for them, as a fan of Peter Pan and his wonderful, exciting battles with Hook.  I asked my brother while wearing this outfit what he thought my theme was, and he was initially stumped.  Maybe the red-green christmas colour combo threw him off, but when I told him "I'm a pirate!" he said, "Oh yeah, Disney style with all the stripes."  I never really thought about Disney being the one to popularize stripes on pirates before... but they also seem to have established the "Alice is blonde and wears a blue dress" rule.  So apparently Disney's depiction of pirates have made lasting impressions on me.

the princess swoons

My landlady said I looked like a princess when she saw me wearing this outfit!  Hee!!  I really, really (reallyreallyreally) love the red lace over yellow tights.  It's so lovely~  Also, I seem to have gotten stuck on the yellow-purple colour scheme.  But I love it, so...

The book in this drawing is the last volume of my favourite manga (äø–ē•Œć§ć„ć”ć°ć‚“å¤§å«Œć„, or I Hate You More Than Anyone), which I read last night.  It's a wonderful series :D  (and much more full of love and happy and adorableness than the title might imply!)

nice guy pose!

For this and the next day's drawing, I let a bit of my geekiness out.  Heh heh...

Here I drew myself sort-of like a certain character from a certain manga (Japanese comic) series, simply because I happened to be looking at a picture of him when I opened my sketchbook to start drawing. Sometimes I just need to draw in a different style than the usual.  If you don't know who the character is, don't worry about it :D  If you do... hurrah!

fashion improv

An emergency!  I had to stay an extra day at the place I was cat-sitting, and I hadn't packed an extra outfit!  Could I use the resources available to me (the past four days' outfits) to come up with something fresh and wonderful??

I was happy with the results.  And there were all kinds of other combinations I could've gone with too!  So many options.  Clothes are fun!

cat crazy

Two and a half(?) days into cat-sitting—their hiding and glaring at me and general anti-social behaviour started to get to me.  It can put one on edge, spending hours in an empty house and your only company is cats who might possibly hate you.

(Don't) notice how the dot pattern gets slightly more sparse on the bottom half of my shirt.  Guess which part I did first!  Whoops.  The real shirt's pattern is probably twice as dense, but I was working quickly so I'd have an update to share with you, my kind viewers

c'mere cats

I cat-sat this weekend.  Don't worry, I didn't actually attempt holding two large furry beasts at once—I was trying to get them to like me, after all.  One accepted my love now and then, but the other spent almost the entire weekend camped out in the pool table.  By the last day he allowed me to pet him and even purred rather pleasantly (from inside the pool table).  But then I left, and he had to get used to a new cat-sitter (my brother) all over again.
