Do I look like a golfer or something in this outfit?  Striped polo shirt, argyle, short pants... (wait, do golfers wear short pants?  maybe once upon a time??)

I dunno.  These patterns and colours just seemed like they wanted me to wear them together...

She's pulling out the cutesy patterned shirts again—can it be spring?  Oh, can it be??  (although the colours definitely put me in the mindset of fall...)

I recall this was a day I was able to walk to some friends' house without the aid of a coat or jacket or scarf.  It felt glorious to be able to do that again.  We're making progress, Spring!!

Someone told me it was the first day of spring, so I wore a springy-flowery dress and earrings that remind me things will be growing again soon! But then someone else said they thought the first day of spring was the next day, so...  Eh.  I never did look it up so I don't know who was right, but I'm all for spring as early as possible!

Somehow I always find myself wearing these assorted leaf earrings together.  Maybe because they're all (except the silver flower) missing their pairs, so I think of them as a set.

The brown socks remind me of tree bark, and the shoes have a sort of mossy-green colour and texture, so when I wear them together I feel like a great tree rising from the earth! Well, a great, small tree...

I was reading this article at AnimeNewsNetwork and the topic was Sailormoon.  Aww!!  It's a great article (and the House of 1000 Manga column in general is really fascinating), and it made me all nostalgic for my very first anime and manga series, so I pulled out my old copies and started browsing.  I used a pose from one of the first volumes for this drawing—with my pleated skirt, it worked out rather well!!

Relatedly, just the other day it was announced that Sailormoon will finally be rereleased here in English with a new translation.  I'm looking forward to it!!

I don't know what this pose is.  I think someone told me this outfit looked springy... all the blues and greens?  The light, lacy shirt maybe?  Hmmm...

a strawberry

This outfit's theme was strawberry!  Or at least I think of strawberries when I see it?  I was wearing a strawberry hat part of the day too, but I didn't draw it.  I guess this could be watermelon-colours too, but the little flowers on the top make me think of strawberry blossoms.  So there.

I had these knit flowers lying around for a project I haven't got around to finishing (...) and when I was trying to figure out what to do with my hair, I realized they would look really cute pulling my braids back! (yes, hair is still in braids, mostly.)  So I pinned 'em in, and one of them had long enough yarn-tails that I could actually braid the ends with my hair to get a colourful braid mixed in with the plain ones.

Sometimes I have days where I feel I need to wear Every Colour (oops, sorry orange).  And then nothing happens all day, so I draw myself upside down to make it at least a little exciting.  Tada!

I update kind of sporadically because I don't have time every single day to get my outfit drawn, scanned, cleaned up, coloured, and a post written, so I apologize in advance for that, but I'm committed to getting every day posted eventually, even if it's not on time (also, in case anyone's confused, I date my posts for the day the outfit was worn, not the day I posted it)! complimenting complements

At church a girl randomly complimented my sweater.  I wasn't sure if there was a reason why beyond her just liking it and saying so, but I do rather like this traditional looking v-neck.  It was perfect for our annual Advent Adventure craft and activities night :D  I helped with a craft making yarn-doll angels, my friend's idea.  They were super cute!!

Also, any time I wear a red sweater with my navy pleated skirt, I think of the American Girl doll Molly.  Didn't she wear something like that for Halloween?  I could be getting it mixed up with the skirt she wore for her regular outfit.  (but she had to wear a normal skirt under her tissue-paper hula skirt too, right?)

moss forest

In my internet browsing and wandering, I came across a mention of "mori girl," one of many (manymany) fashion trends in Japan.  Mori means forest, so the trend aims for a natural, woodsy, fairy-ish look (or something like that).  I thought it sounded just lovely :D

This outfit doesn't exactly fit that image (the fairies I know prefer skirts), but it's got the forest part, anyway.  You can imagine I'm a moss-covered tree in the middle of deep woods. Maybe it's the morning of an early frost...

piratical

This is exciting, right!?  Look how awesome I am!!

In high school, or rather right after graduating high school, I went through a pirate phase (try and guess what year that was and what movie hit theaters that summer and it'll all make entirely too much sense).  But I suspect even before that I had a soft spot for them, as a fan of Peter Pan and his wonderful, exciting battles with Hook.  I asked my brother while wearing this outfit what he thought my theme was, and he was initially stumped.  Maybe the red-green christmas colour combo threw him off, but when I told him "I'm a pirate!" he said, "Oh yeah, Disney style with all the stripes."  I never really thought about Disney being the one to popularize stripes on pirates before... but they also seem to have established the "Alice is blonde and wears a blue dress" rule.  So apparently Disney's depiction of pirates have made lasting impressions on me.
