spring! spring?

dress and blouse - Bodyline
shoes - RuffHewn

Someone told me it was the first day of spring, so I wore a springy-flowery dress and earrings that remind me things will be growing again soon! But then someone else said they thought the first day of spring was the next day, so...  Eh.  I never did look it up so I don't know who was right, but I'm all for spring as early as possible!

Somehow I always find myself wearing these assorted leaf earrings together.  Maybe because they're all (except the silver flower) missing their pairs, so I think of them as a set.

The brown socks remind me of tree bark, and the shoes have a sort of mossy-green colour and texture, so when I wear them together I feel like a great tree rising from the earth! Well, a great, small tree...

moon fan

sweater, skirt, tights - Old Navy
socks - SouSou

I was reading this article at AnimeNewsNetwork and the topic was Sailormoon.  Aww!!  It's a great article (and the House of 1000 Manga column in general is really fascinating), and it made me all nostalgic for my very first anime and manga series, so I pulled out my old copies and started browsing.  I used a pose from one of the first volumes for this drawing—with my pleated skirt, it worked out rather well!!

Relatedly, just the other day it was announced that Sailormoon will finally be rereleased here in English with a new translation.  I'm looking forward to it!!

the old navy

EVERYTHING - Old Navy
(I feel kinda like one of the Jusco people
in Kamikaze Girls, writing that...)

Sweater-sweater day the second!  The outfit's theme is Old Navy, because everything came from there.  I started coordinating the outfit with the sweaters, was amused that they were both Old Navy, and decided to see if I could make an entire outfit of Old Navy clothes.  The socks were the only tricky part—I used to have a lot of their socks some years ago, but they almost all got worn out except for this and one other pair of thick-fuzzy socks.  Also, I realized I have a ton of Old Navy skirts—like, eight of them.  I guess that's fitting since the skirt that started my obsession came from there...  But still, I hardly ever shop there anymore, so it's weird to realize I've got so much of their stuff in my closet and dresser.

stepping on roses

I went and coloured this one after all (really quickly, like in 10 minutes), because I liiiiike it.  I went back to helping out as a designer, and they put me to work cleaning the lower leaves and outer petals from the roses.  By the time I finished the job, I found myself standing in a crimson and green sea of rose petals and leaves.  So dramatic!

Also, one thing I appreciate about glasses is being able to tuck a flower between the frame and my head, just above my ear.  Flowers are nice accessories.

hurrah!

I'm getting behind on posting! Oh no! I tend to get busy on weekends, and I've been wearing outfits with a bunch of silly patterns (which take more time to colour)... and sometimes I just wanna be lazy. I'll try to get all caught up tomorrow!

In the meantime, I like this outfit and this drawing, so it can stay on top of the page for a while.  Purple and yellow are my faaaavourite complementary colour pair.  Throw in a tinge of pink and I'm in love-love. I knitted the scarf last winter and it's my current favourite.  It's so soft and warm!

fashion improv

An emergency!  I had to stay an extra day at the place I was cat-sitting, and I hadn't packed an extra outfit!  Could I use the resources available to me (the past four days' outfits) to come up with something fresh and wonderful??

I was happy with the results.  And there were all kinds of other combinations I could've gone with too!  So many options.  Clothes are fun!
